Route 132 East, La Gaspésie, QC – Canada

Somewhere between Ste-Anne-des-Monts and Percé. Tiny villages, only few people, nothing really seems to happen here other than waves crashing at the shore… and many places are worn down or even abandoned.

Café des 2 Moulins, Montmartre, Paris – France

While visiting Paris for the third time, I finally went to discover some of the locations shown in one of my favourite movies, Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain. Had to realize that none of them carries a special atmosphere… rather they would just sell “Fabuleux Crème Brulée” or “Amélie’s Whatever” and decorate the interior with kitsch and trash. Well, if I want to continue dreaming of the city Amélie lives in, I have to give the movie another watch ;)

Jardin Villemin – Paris, France

Had to travel to Paris last week for work and it was obvious to stay there for the weekend as well. While having the most beautiful weather, we enjoyed watching people enjoying their sunday afternoon :)

Venice, Italy

Too bad that most of the buildings and houses in Venice look like this, and on top of that a lot of them seem to be abandonded for a long time. But nevertheless, the resulting atmosphere and flair Venice offers to visitors like me is something that seems to complete the impression you get while walking the streets and bridges of this decayed, but still extraordinary place. I really hope the city of Venice will last for another while yet ;)
